Tahun baru bermakna kebaruan, resolusi hidup baru, belajar hal yang baru, menemukan kembali hal “lama” menjadi baru.
Tentunya kebaruan bisa pula menimbulkan sedikit ketakutan akan timbulnya ketidakpastian baru.
Therefore, allow me to share a nice story that I read this morning:
After Observing O Sensei, the founder of Aikido, sparring with an accomplished fighter, a young student said to the master: “You never lose your balance, what is your secret?”
“You are Wrong”, O Sensei Replied, “I am constantly losing my balance. My skill lies in my ability to regain it“.
Dengan terus membarukan pengetahuan kita, maka kita akan memiliki kemampuan untuk cepat untuk beradaptasi.

Akhmad Hidayatno is a Professor and the Head of Systems Engineering, Modeling, and Simulation Laboratory, Universitas Indonesia. Graduated from Industrial Engineering from Universitas Indonesia, obtained Master of Business and Technology from Australian School of Business, University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Doctorate Degree in Chemical Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, has given him a unique perspective on how the industry and sustainability are interrelated systemically.
His research focuses on exploring the triangle of Energy, Industry, and Sustainability, with an interest in renewable energy and technological change. He is a member of System Dynamics Society (SDS), International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). He also has deep experience in working and handling national and international consultancy projects, especially in the area of model-based problem solving and model-based policymaking.
